Combing Mom's hair , the good enough mother and the carrots coffee (the story behind)

I was wondering about doing a very quick post this week , hours just go sooooooooooooo fast and I my to do list (which sometimes I must say it goes on my nervs) never gets smaller, quite the opposite!
And , here we are!, this is actually  the main point of this painting
I'm part of the huge club "a good enough mother" swinging every day between the "Oh, I'm super cool!" and the "I completely suck why I made children ?!?" and most of the time being stuck in the middle (and since my 40 I start to think that's is a nice place to be!)
Anyway, on the bad mother side I can easily put : I don't often play with my children
Hell no! Oh, I actually do plenty of others things (walking, feeding cats, cooking cookies, reading, drawing etc etc) but I don't play mommy and daddy, I just pretend sometimes that I'm eating the soup or drinking the coffe made by plastic carrots, and I hate when my third one wants to be the teacher and I should then play the student.
But the "hairdresser game"  goes to another stage of the time.
You start to comb their hair when they're really small and start to sit by themself and you know that another step is over
It's when they have enough long hair to start play ponytail and others (and find out that doing the chignon classic dance sucks even after 4 years!).
And the suddenly they comb their hair by themself....you are not needed anymore for that ;-)
Maybe one day they will comb yours, so once again, where the time did it go ??
Thinking about this the painting was born,  about really recognising that time is here , now

Always a good night kiss (Always!) - (the story behind the painting)

Always, always kiss your child goodnight.....
Parenting can be really though sometimes, you know that, I certainly do!
How many times I arrive at bed time drained and knowing that I won't be to bed for still few hors ? (this is especially dedicated for mama artist or not working late at night)
How many times I'm just fed up after a long, long, long day?
How many times I'm just annoyed (yes, let's say that too !) with always (always!) the same things/jokes/call him/her again and again EVERY SINGLE NIGHT ? (called maybe routine)
And still...
EVEN if I am FED UP, EVEN if I did argue badly, EVEN if I am annoyed, EVEN in the worse day
I kiss them and say "I love you".
Then I kiss them again when they're sleeping thinking how lucky I am.
Because one day they'll grow up and may sleep somewhere else (one day very far of course !) and I'll miss this special moment.
"Always a good night kiss" - 02/2016

In tutti i casi per me é verissimo.

Accepting that she/he behave differently .... / Accepter qu'il / elle se comporter différemment .... / Accettare che lei/lui si comportino diversamente....

One of the hardest lesson I learned being a parent and that still hurts is that each one of my child may behaves differently from what I would do in a given situation.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not such a nazi parent that discover that they "JUST" are different from me....this is pretty obvious (and still....).
I'm talking more like accepting this for real and get on with it.
I have three children and I can't help recognise in each of them some similarity they may have with me or their father. When is something that I like, fine.
Sometimes I don't.
I don't like for instance when one of them (not saying who on purpose) instead that facing a problem she/he tends to flinch back and being quiet.
I had to understand that she/he is reacting differently to what I would do (I possibly would shout very loud, and be a bit more aggressive or "openly facing" the problem).
I know for a fact that she/he is not avoiding nothing and I'm not talking about a particular problem, it's really just a different way to react.
I suppose this is not a random example since is one of the hardest things for me but there are others.
Accepting that she/he's different for real it's not always easy mainly because I'm managing MY fear or frustration and my inner judjment.
To keep myself aside and not messing up with them has been and still is a challenge.
Just wanted to share this ;-)

"Making peace" - aceo 14/02/2013

A chef d'oeuvre...........

Couple of days ago my oldest one turned 8. Difficult to explain my feeling.
The first child is the one that made you a parent.
For one side have the privilege to look at her growing it's huge.
On the other side I couldn't help feeling nostalgic, thinking that if I could have her again inside me I may not thinking on it twice.
Of course I keep my double feeling and the only thing I can do about it it's just celebrating it with my art.

"Natural" - 11/2014 - pyrography jewelry
