A bien tôt!

Introducing my painting "Woman of sword"
Hi there!
I'd like the idea to tell you a bit more about my paintings and the story behind them.
This one is called "Woman of swords" but the real title is in italian "Donna di spade".
I painted this in june 2008 when i was leaving in wonderful Copenhagen (or København, Denmark)
At that time I liked to paint in a sort of monochromatic way. I choosed blue for this one because it kind of reminded me about the sword's blade.
Now, this artwork has a double story with him.
First :
the "Woman of sword" is born as part of a collection of four paintings inspired to the italian playing cards from Naple.
There are four suits : swords (spade), cups( coppe), money (denari/coins), bastoni (clubs).
In the original card she doesn't look so warrior but then it cames artistic interpretation, I liked to paint her like a combative woman (of cours not all combatives women need a real sword ;-))
Second :
This painting was lost for few months in 2010 because a fake exhibition supposedly hold in Senegal (At the time I did a FB page about it but this shame cheating "festival" is still on the web, artists watch out!).
It was back with others 3 paintings after almost 5 months.
In the end I was really lucky but during the period it was lost I felt really bad.Now I'm much more carefull!
What this painting inspire to you? You're welcome to leave a comment!

Co sleeping family
Hi !
This is an hot topic! ;-)
This pic was on the FB wall of an italian friend few days ago and it made me laugh , so I did some translation because it really resume what I think about this and what you can answer the doctor (and some others people that surely exist in your life) if you co sleeps with your children.
Of course every one does wherever he/she wants....for me co sleeping was a life saver, at the third child in almost 6 years I would be sleep dead if I didn't find this solution!
And no, they really go to sleep in their bed at some point!
And no, they won't be sleeping with you when they'll be eighteen!
And no, you're not creating some dysfunctional human being!
And.......(fill the blank)......
One of my favourite topic in painting too...
"Il dolce sonno" (Sweet sleeping) - 2007 - sold
The co sleepers - 2009 - sold
Blue co dodo (Blue Co Sleeping) - 2011 - sold
Doux dodo (Sweet sleeping) - 2012 - Painting on paper - available
On you - 2012 - Painting on paper - available
Nighttime Fatherhood - 2012 - painting on paper - sold
Enjoy!

Saving money and the environment in oil painting
Hi there, just wanted to write this down today.
I love oil colors, have been using this for a long time but I discovered just few years ago that you can actually save turpentine and use the same stock for quite a while before throw it away.
Turpentine is a diluent and also cleans brushes when you work with oil colors in painting.
You cannot really avoid it, even if in the last few years a lot of similar product have been on the market , odorless maybe but not less toxic and quite often really expansive!
Don't get me wrong, at some point you need to take a trip to a special trash collection point to get rid of this but still...
Simply you take few glass recipient with you.
When you finish your work session and cleaned your stuff you leave the turpentine alone.
Few hours later you'll see that the liquid on the top is clear and the sediment are down in the bottom.
Then you SLOWLY pass the clear liquid in a new recipient and leave in the first one just the sediment.
You can use the liquid that you collect in the second recipient like a new one.
You can keep a special glass recipient with a lid just to stock the turpentine until you'll bring it to the trash collector.
I hope it helps,
Gioia

How did/do you stay active during pregnancy (from twitter)
Question today on twitter from @fprmotherhood (http://www.thefprprogram.com/fr/), one member that I follow.
"How did/do you stay active during pregnancy?"
Uhmmmm.....
I must say that in all my three pregnancy the worse of it was coping with morning sickness...knowing that actually it was the whole day not just in the morning and they got worse a each pregnancy.
First pregnancy : I didn't do that much. I was still working in a office and I was leaving in Denmark. So a little bike (there you can easily bike everywhere!) and some pilates in the end when I got in maternity leave.
Second pregnancy (still in Denmark) : I had a two years old girl keeping me busy...and we were renting at a third floor without lift almost until the end of the pregnancy (then we changed appartment so put doing boxes and a moving as well ;-))
I biked a lot with the two years old in the back of my seat ....that has been usefull since I putted on less weight than first time.
Third pregnancy : more sickness and harder (the whole 9 months argh!!), more children (at the time 4 years old and 2 years old) to keep me busy, less weight putted on ;-)...and basically that was it. And yes, a bit of a walk, south of France is very good for that. It has been the pregnancy where I putted less weight on, of course.
I definitly could use some yoga but honestly it was impossible just to find the time to do all since I also kept the painting going on.
So my recipe would be : having already children (if is your first pregnancy you can borrow one or two from relatives/friends ;-) ), walking, biking if you leave in a place where you can do it safely and some gentle exercise (yoga, pilates or others) if you can.
Take care!
